The Beans
Whether you like your liquid intelligence to have a chocolaty aroma with notes of vanilla and dark chocolate or nippy with notes of clove, it all starts with the bean. We stock both arabica and robusta beans. While they are both coffee beans, they are not identical. Arabica has a lower caffeine content and a smoother and sweeter taste with fruity notes and is less acidic. Robusta is generally stronger in taste with more bitterness and woody notes. For your freshly ground coffee, you can choose to have either arabica or robusta by itself or you can choose a percentage of both.

The Roast
When you buy our ground coffee beans, you can order your perfectly roasted beans exactly how you like them. Roasting is the process of turning fresh, green coffee beans into brown, fragrant beans that we savor the smell of when brewing our morning cup of joe. There are 5 types of coffee bean roasts for you to choose from:

White Roast Coffee
Light Roast AKA cinnamon roast
Medium Roast AKA regular or American roast
Medium-Dark Roast AKA after dinner roast
Dark Roast AKA Espresso
Coffee beans that are roasted for longer periods of time turn darker in color and develop a greater flavor and fragrance. Also, the more time they’re roasted for, the less caffeine and acidity they have.

The Brew Method
When you buy our ground coffee beans you can specify with brew method you prefer and subsequently which grind size you need. There are 4 main classes of brewing methods: boiling, steeping, dripping and pressure. Each will require a different grind size.
Extra coarse – Cold Brew Coffee, Cowboy Coffee
Coarse – French Press, Percolator, Coffee Cupping
Medium-coarse – Chemex coffee maker, Clever Dripper, Cafe Solo Brewer
Medium – Cone-shaped Pour-over Brewers, Flat Bottom Drip Coffee Machines, Siphon Coffee, Aeropress (with 3+ minute brew time)
Medium-fine – Cone-shaped Pour-over Brewers, Aeropress (with 2–3-minute brew time)
Fine – Espresso, Moka Pot (Stovetop Espresso Maker), Aeropress (with 1 minute brew time)
Extra Fine – Turkish coffee
